UC Davis School of Law is hosting a prison law symposium called "The Crime Within" on Sat., April 7, 2007 from 9am to 3pm at King Hall, Room 2008 located at UC Davis School Law at 400 Mrak Hall Drive in Davis, CA. The event is free. The forum will be comprehensive and cover the state of the prison system in California and reform of the system based on restorative justice. JRP victim advisor Russ Turner is one featured speaker. Mr. Turner is a victim of violent crime in California who supports restorative justice. Mr. Turner has participated in victim offender dialogue in his own case. Lisa Rea, President of The Justice & Reconciliation Project (www.thejrp.org), will talk about restorative justice and the need for a new vision of reform for the California correctional system and the U.S. criminal justice system. Forum on Restorative Justice in Nevada City, CA |

Nevada County Peace Center will host a forum on restorative justice in Nevada City, CA on Wed., April 25, 2007 from 7-9pm featuring victims of crime, advocates for restorative justice, a newly elected judge, and a victims advocate with the county victims witness program. Lisa Rea of the Justice and Reconciliation Project will present restorative justice and moderate the panel. Nick and Amanda Wilcox and Deborah Jordan of Nevada county will talk about the experiences as victims of violent crime and how they view restorative justice. The forum will be held at the Nevada County Eric Rood Administrative Center in the Madelyn Helling Library located at 950 Maidu Avenue, Nevada City, CA 95959
