The Justice & Reconciliation Project (JRP) is a national 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing restoration and healing to crime victims, offenders and to communities torn by crime. Our mission is to work to restore the lives of those harmed by crime by advocating for reforms that encourage offender accountability, promote healing in the lives of victims and lead to fewer repeat offenders and safer communities. JRP seeks to reach victims with the message of hope that restorative justice provides. JRP is committed to the following: - Work to make the criminal justice system more restorative by educating crime victims and other volunteers about the benefits of restorative justice.
- Transform the retributive tenor of the public debate concerning criminal justice policies by providing a forum for victims to tell their stories and to promote policies and programs that allow healing in victims and offenders.
- Work to remove the institutional barriers facing victims seeking to establish a dialogue with their offenders.
- Reach out to pastors, clergy, priests, and other people of faith to educate them about how to respond to victims of crime in a way that allows restoration, healing and reconciliation, as much as possible.
- Educate policymakers, key opinion leaders, and the media regarding the need for restorative justice policies that will lead to increased victim satisfaction, lower offender recidivism rates, reduced violence, and improved public safety.
